Class Descriptions

Powerlifting Fundamentals

Strength
  • Intensity: Moderate to High
  • Duration: 75 minutes
  • Capacity: 12 per session
  • Coach: Coach Dani Torres

What to Bring

Comfortable clothing, flat-soled shoes (Converse or weightlifting shoes ideal), water bottle. Belt and wraps optional.

Who It’s For

Anyone wanting to learn the squat, bench press, and deadlift with correct technique. Beginners absolutely welcome. This is the class where members go from zero to competition-ready.

About This Class

The backbone of the Forged Athletics programming. Each session opens with a technique block (30 minutes drilling the main movement of the day with coaching cues and video feedback), transitions into a working set block using percentage-based programming from the monthly periodization cycle, and closes with accessory work targeting the supporting muscles for that lift. Members track their lifts in the member app and follow a 12-week wave periodization cycle that peaks around local USAPL meets. Beginners start with technique-only weight for the first 2-3 sessions before loading begins. Coach Dani builds the program around each member’s starting 1-rep max and updates percentages every 4 weeks.

Olympic Lifting Clinic

Strength / Skills
  • Intensity: Moderate to High
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Capacity: 10 per session
  • Coach: Coach Marcus Webb, Coach Dani Torres

What to Bring

Weightlifting shoes strongly recommended. Chalk is provided. Athletic wear with freedom of movement.

Who It’s For

Open to all levels, but intermediate and advanced lifters get the most from this class. Beginners can attend but should set expectations for a steep learning curve on the snatch and clean & jerk.

About This Class

Olympic lifting is a technical discipline and this clinic treats it that way. Classes run a full movement assessment on new attendees in their first session, then flow into the daily movement focus: snatch, clean, jerk, or a complex. Technique blocks use submaximal loading and extensive video analysis using the coach’s tablet. Working sets progress based on daily readiness and technique quality, not a fixed percentage. Every athlete leaves with a specific cue list to self-coach between sessions. Coach Marcus competed at the national level in USAW and has coached multiple state qualifiers. The clinic runs a 9-week competition prep cycle for athletes targeting local meets.

MetCon

Conditioning
  • Intensity: High
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Capacity: 20 per session
  • Coach: Coach Ethan Cole

What to Bring

Sneakers (no flat soles for this one), water, towel. A sense of humor helps.

Who It’s For

Members with at least 4 weeks of consistent training. MetCon involves high-intensity intervals, complex movement patterns, and sustained cardiovascular demand. Not recommended as your very first class.

About This Class

Metabolic conditioning is where fitness gets built fast and results become visible. Each MetCon session includes a movement prep warm-up (10 minutes), a skill/strength primer (15 minutes of moderate loading to prime the CNS), and the conditioning block itself (30-35 minutes of structured intervals). Formats rotate weekly: AMRAP, EMOM, HIIT circuits, chipper-style workouts, and partner WODs. Coach Ethan programs 12-week conditioning blocks with intentional deload weeks built in. Heart rate stays in the 75-90% zone for most of the conditioning block. Members using heart rate monitors are welcome and encouraged. All movements scale to ability level — no one is left behind.

Barbell Club

Strength
  • Intensity: High
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Capacity: 16 per session
  • Coach: Coach Dani Torres, Coach Marcus Webb

What to Bring

Flat-soled shoes or weightlifting shoes, belt (recommended), chalk provided, water.

Who It’s For

Intermediate to advanced members who want a high-volume training environment focused on competition preparation. Beginners should complete at least 8 weeks of Powerlifting Fundamentals first.

About This Class

Barbell Club is Forged Athletics’ flagship competitive training environment. Sessions run 3x per week and follow a periodized conjugate-influenced program built by Coach Dani and Coach Marcus. Max effort days alternate with dynamic effort days. Accessory work is extensive and structured around weak-point analysis from prior competition performance. Members who attend Barbell Club consistently typically compete at 2-3 meets per year. The club maintains an active relationship with USAPL Colorado and USAW Colorado for member competition entries and coaching staff credentials. New members must complete an onboarding session with Coach Dani to confirm readiness before joining the club rotation.

Open Strength

Strength / Open
  • Intensity: Self-Directed
  • Duration: 90 minutes open
  • Capacity: 20 per session
  • Coach: Rotating staff

What to Bring

Your training program, or arrive without one and a coach will suggest a session based on your goals.

Who It’s For

All levels. This is structured open gym time with a coach on the floor for guidance. Bring your own program or follow a suggestion from the coach on duty.

About This Class

Open Strength is for members who want time on the main lifting floor with a coach available but don’t want a group class format. The session is self-directed: bring your own powerlifting, Olympic lifting, or strength program and execute it on the main platform or squat rack. A coach rotates the floor providing cue feedback, spotting, and programming suggestions on request. Equipment priority goes to Open Strength attendees over open gym members during this session. New members without a program can receive a customized single-session prescription from the floor coach. Great option for competitive athletes who need to run their own program but want access to expert eyes.

Saturday Strongman

Strength / Specialty
  • Intensity: High
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Capacity: 14 per session
  • Coach: Coach Marcus Webb

What to Bring

Straps, chalk (provided), sturdy footwear. Dress for events — you may be dragging sleds, carrying implements, or pressing logs.

Who It’s For

Members with a solid strength foundation. Strongman involves odd-object lifting, carries, and implements not found in standard powerlifting or Olympic lifting. No prior strongman experience required, but prior strength training is essential.

About This Class

Strongman is the wildcard in the Forged Athletics class lineup. Coach Marcus pulls out the atlas stones, log bar, yoke, sled, sandbags, and farmers walk handles for a 90-minute session that will test every dimension of functional strength. Sessions rotate across 6 event categories over a 6-week cycle: pressing events (log press, axle press), picking events (deadlift, atlas stone), carry events (farmers walk, yoke), loading events (medley), overhead events, and grip events. Programming is not competitive-focused — it’s designed to build total-body strength and expose members to movement patterns that complement their primary training. Strongman competitions are announced when local events are scheduled.
